Trinamul Minister threats social organsation misusing his official power

Barasat, Nov. 10: Matua leader Kapilkrishna Thakur today filed a police complaint against his younger brother, Trinamul minister Manjulkrishna, accusing him of issuing threats.
The complaint came hours after the siblings squabbled over picking office-bearers to the community’s top body.
“My younger brother Manjulkrishna threatened me, my family and my mother Binapani Devi (Matua matriarch) with dire consequences if we did not abide by him,” Kapilkrishna, known for his proximity to CPM leaders, said in his complaint filed with the Gaighata police station in North 24-Parganas.
Manjulkrishna dubbed the allegations “false and baseless”. “How can I threaten my brother? Are we uncivilised? Maybe, some people are instigating my brother.”
Earlier, the siblings had presented their own lists of nominees for the All India Matua Mahasangha, whose office-bearers are chosen for a year, leading to the quarrel, a member of the body said. Binapani Devi intervened and announced that the existing office-bearers would continue, the member said.
