Trinamul minister laid foundation stone using Mamata photo for liquor bottling plant

Durgapur, Nov. 6: A father and son were arrested from Kulti in Asansol for using chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s picture in an advertisement without her permission.
The advertisement, which announced the laying of a foundation stone of their liquor bottling plant, was published in two Bengali dailies and had the pictures of Mamata, law minister Malay Ghatak and the Trinamul MLA from Kulti, Ujjwal Chatterjee.
Mamata called up Ghatak, who laid the foundation stone, and ordered action against the duo.
A suo motu case has been registered against Kallol Mukherjee and son Kripaan and they have been charged with cheating, sources said.

ASANSOL: Kulti police arrested industrialist Kallol Mukherjee and his son Kripan Mukherjee on Sunday for allegedly using the photograph of chief minister Mamata Banerjee in newspaper advertisements without seeking prior permission of the state government. The duo had reportedly used CM's photograph also at the podium set up at an event for laying foundation stone for their bottling plant project at Dishergarh. without taking permission of the state government.
They will be produced in court on Monday.
Incidentally, law and judiciary minister Maloy Ghatak, Kulti MLA and chairman of Kulti Municipality, Ujjwal Chatterjee, were present at the podium alongside Kallol and his son when the minister received a call from chief minister Mamata Banerjee, informing him about the matter. When Kallol came to know of it, he agreed to send a written apology.and said that he was unaware of the legal issues involved.
While Ghatak left after the event, state government lodged an FIR on Sunday and directed police commissioner Ajay Kumar Nand to arrest Kallol and Kripan. Police then reached the spot at 12 noon and arrested the father-son duo.
"We have arrested them on charges of cheating," said Anjali Ahuja, ACP, West, Asansol-Durgapur police.

At around 12 noon, one hour after the function at Dishergarh, a large contingent of police from Kulti reached the venue and arrested them under US 420 of IPC. They have been kept at the Kulti police station lock up and will be produced in court on Monday.

The CM informed Ghatak about her photographs being used by the company without official permission. Ghatak immediately spoke to Kallol Mukherjee and Mukherjee in turn offered to submit a written apology for his mistake. The industrialist reportedly told Ghatak that he was not aware of the legalities involved. Both Ghatak and Chatterjee left the stage after the event and about one hour later police reached the venue.
The arrest of two local industrialists by police has created a stir here. Incidentally, Kallol Mukherjee was present at the first interaction programme of chief minister Mamata Banerjee with industrialists and entrepreneurs in Kolkata.
